Great Forest participated in a recent Apartment and Office Building Association’s (AOBA) school supplies drive by coordinating a donation from our friends at SCRAP DC, a local reuse organization.

SCRAP DC kindly donated 30 boxes of paper through Great Forest to AOBA, who in turn donated them to John Burroughs Education Campus Elementary School, along with donations of supplies and money from other 34 other AOBA members.

Inspired by the original SCRAP reuse organization located in Portland, Oregon, SCRAP DC started as a mobile operation focused on traveling to community events and schools to encourage creative reuse in the arts. Today, SCRAP DC has a brick and mortar reuse boutique, which is operated by volunteers, selling materials to the general public.

At Great Forest we are always trying to make that connection.  Recently, we made connections to bring furniture to the Duckworth school, supply a rescue mission with hotel amenities, and direct leftover renovation materials to a community reuse organization. Read the stories below.

If you have  useful, unwanted assets that can reused or recycled, check out our donation assistance page to see if there is an organization near you. We update this page regularly so let us know of reuse organizations we can add to the list.
