Over 100 Restaurants Pledge to Reduce Food Waste by 50%

Le Bernardin, Momofuku, Chipotle and Juice Generation are among over 100 restaurants in NYC that have pledged to reduce by half the amount of food waste sent to landfills. Instead of throwing away food, the restaurants will implement strategies like composting and recycling.

Great Forest provided assistance on the development of this Food Waste Challenge for the City and will continue to offer technical advice.

Food waste comprises one-third of daily refuse in NYC and restaurants account for 70% of commercial food waste.
